Response to "Jack Burgess explains Contemporary Art"

Contemporary Art @ from Trent Weaver on Vimeo.

  • gives a satirical look at contemporary art for a laymen with no prior art history knowledge
  • some of the points are valid such as answering the common quip "my 2 year old daughter could do that," with "but could she THINK of it?"
  • Some of the humor was lost in the attempt to mimic Wes Anderson's filmmaking style
  • His points on contemporary art may be relevant to some part of the art world, but is not truthful about the contemporary art world as a whole

How does the filmmaking style of Wes Anderson relate to the contemporary art world?
Is the humor in this video intended for the art makers, the viewers, or the laymen?
